Course Details

Description:

In this course, we will take a look into the material and environment creation workflow of the Substance 3D Suite of tools. We cover the basics of working with existing resources with Substance Sampler, creating materials variations as well as creating new materials from scratch with Substance Designer, and applying the materials to 3D models in Substance Painter. We also discuss how this workflow works with Substance Stager and Digital Content Creation (DCC) programs like Cinema 4D, Maya, 3ds Max, and ZBrush, though our main focus will be on Cinema 4D.

Prerequisites:

This class is appropriate for novice to intermediate level users. Bringing samples of the kinds of projects that you’d like to be able to do is helpful but not required. We recommend that you have the software installed before starting the class. You can purchase the Substance Suite programs (Stager, Painter, Sampler, and Designer will be used) or obtain a trial version of it from the Adobe Substance website at  https://www.adobe.com/products/substance3d/3d-augmented-reality.html. If you are a student or teacher, you can find a free educational version of Sampler, Painter, and Designer (sorry, not Stager) here: https://substance3d.adobe.com/education/
